I mentioned on the 8th day we were greeted by family, friends and a press photographer. The shots taken were for the Durham Times and the Northern Echo. It’s fantastic to get exposure in my local newspaper and it’s already helped raise even more money for Percy Hedley today. +

9 Ladies Dancing
9 days down, 3 to go! 44.7 miles down, 15.3 to go!
This morning I made my way to Studio 12 in Langley Moor to celebrate 9 Ladies Dancing. I was again joined by supporting runners in Paul and Martin. Thank-you guys for the support, you are awesome! +
8 Maids-a-Milking
8 days down, 4 to go! 40.8 miles down, 19.2 to go! After todays mileage I certainly feel like I’m getting there!
Today was a day I’ve been both looking forward to and dreading since I set the challenge. To be totally honest, the run was great. Great until we hit the bank in Lanchester. It was an absolute killer. I thought the bank up to Broom House Farm was bad but this was harder. I felt like I was running on the spot for about half an hour! +
More Than Just a Number
As 2012 draws to an end, I emptied my gym bag tonight. Looking at the three event numbers you see pictured above, a mixture of emotions ran through my body. I feel pride, satisfaction and most of all, happiness. +
7 Swans-a-Swimming
7 days down, 5 to go! 31.3 miles down, 28.7 to go!
7 Swans-a-Swimming today so we made our way to the Swan and Three Cygnets pub in Durham. For a nice cold pint obviously! Distance was only 2.5 miles but with the wind and my legs all stiff, it was tougher than I thought. Thanks to Ross, Paul, John and Peter for supporting again. These guys have all been fantastic. Unfortunately Chris couldn’t make it today but we’re both hoping he’ll be fit for the 11th day. +
6 Geese-a-Laying
Halfway now! 6 days down, 6 to go! 29.8 miles down, 30.2 to go!
6th day and a 10k run around Chester-le-Street park to represent 6 Geese-a-Laying. The geese were in hiding however! I rocked up late, typical. I was amazed to see 13 runners all ready and warming up. I was honestly gobsmacked! This was the biggest turnout to date and it helped me so much. +
5 Gold Rings
5 days down, 7 to go! 23.6 miles down, 36.4 to go!
5 Gold Rings this morning so Lee and I made our way to Ramsden’s Jewellers in Chester-le-Street. The run was about 5 miles and fairly flat with slopes downhill for a change. Thanks to Stephen D again today for the photo above and the lift. Thanks also to Juliet who beeped at us at Chester-le-Street. We’d heard it but we weren’t sure who it was until I got a tweet later on. +
4 Colly Birds
4 days down, 8 to go! 18.5 miles down, 41.5 to go!
I’m now a third of the way through my challenge and my legs are feeling it. I’m actually surprised as I thought I’d be ok until at least the 6th or 7th day. I could come on here and say everything is cool but that’s not me. I need to soldier on and remind myself of why I’m doing this. +
3 French Hens
3 days down, 9 to go! 13.4 miles down, 46.6 to go!
I should be happy that I’m now down to single figure days but there’s part of me that now doesn’t want this challenge to end. Todays run was at Saltwell Park as they have Hens in Pets Corner. I’m absolutely delighted to say, what a turn out we had! There were 6 of us in total and I enjoyed every stride. +
2 Turtle Doves
2 down, 10 to go! 10.3 miles down, 49.7 to go!
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas? We sure did. Loads of food, surrounded by family and Santa was kind, very kind. I’ll remember Adam’s face forever. He was so happy and excited, it was magical. This is what being a parent and what Christmas is all about. +
