On Saturday I took part in a very tough, snow filled Durham parkrun. I was there to support Paul Smith, he was celebrating his 50th Birthday and 100 parkruns. +

More Than Just a Number
As 2012 draws to an end, I emptied my gym bag tonight. Looking at the three event numbers you see pictured above, a mixture of emotions ran through my body. I feel pride, satisfaction and most of all, happiness. +
First Class Stamp
I completed the Newcastle Stampede on Sunday and it was first class! There were five of us competing in total and I think we all agreed it was great fun. The above photo from left to right is Lee, Me, Martin, John and Ray. Obviously it was a challenge and a really tough one but there’s just something about running around in mud and freezing cold water that does it for me. +
Iron Mike
It’s not every day you get to meet your boxing idol. On Tuesday night I came face to face with “Iron” Mike Tyson. It was a great night and even though it was rather expensive, I treat it as a once in a lifetime opportunity and I grabbed it with both hands. +
Newcastle Stampede 2012
I tweeted the other day that after completing Total Warrior, I needed a new event and fast. Well I’ve just signed up to a new one called the Newcastle Stampede and it takes place on Sunday 14th of October. It’s a unique and challenging event right on my door step and includes obstacles such as the Sheep Dip and Pond Plunge. It looks a fantastic course and is designed by the Royal Marines. It states on the official website that you will get wet and muddy, perfect! +
We Are Warriors!
I just completed Total Warrior a couple of weeks ago and boy, that was fun. It was certainly harder than I thought it was going to be and it was funner than I thought it was going to be. Unfortunately Deano couldn’t make it in time, he suffered a knee injury a few months ago. So competing this year were myself, Peter and Martin. John was drafted in at the last minute to replace Deano and he did brilliantly. +
Pier To Pier Success!
Yesterday I completed my first Pier To Pier run so I thought I’d do a quick write-up as it’s fresh in my head.
Firstly, the race was fantastic! Secondly, it was very well organised so I have to say a huge thank-you to both the Sunderland Strollers and the South Shields Harriers. +
Pier To Pier Run 2012
I received my number this afternoon for the Pier to Pier run 2012. If you attend, look out for me! I’m number 459. I’ll be the guy near the back thinking how on earth have I ended up running this? +
Total Warrior 2012
I’ve always wanted to do something challenging and have often thought about doing the Great North Run or the Coast to Coast. These are both fantastic events but as I’m not a good long distance runner or cyclist I knocked that idea on the head! +
