How To Raise Money For Charity As A Family

Post Type

Raising money for charity is always a great thing to do no matter what your age. But it’s something that’s even more special when done as a family. There are several steps that you can take to raise the money – and although this might differ from person-to-person, the end goal remains the same.

Whether you’re thinking of planning an event yourself or simply using the money that you’ve acquired from selling items to donate to the charity, there are many easy ways to raise money. But if you’re stuck on where to begin with this process, the following top tips can be very useful.

Choose a Cause

The first step in the process is to choose which charity that you’ll raise money for. When looking at the various charities, make a list of the top ones that align with your cause and start to think of ways that you can raise money for them.

Whether it’s a charity that specialises in ramadan donation, a genetic disease or another condition, it will be a worthy cause to fundraise for and a great way of getting everyone in your family involved.

Decide on How You Will Fundraise

The second step is to decide on how you will fundraise the money. As aforementioned, there are lots of fun ideas out there to choose from, no matter what your preference. For example, as a family, you could do one of the following three things.

Sell items at a car boot sale

There’s tons of car boot and jumble sales around this country, so if you’re looking for a unique way of raising money, this could be it! Spend a weekend decluttering your house, book a place at a local car boot sale and get selling!

Although this won’t raise thousands of pounds on its own, it’s a great step towards your fundraising goal and something that the whole family will enjoy doing.

Organise a cupcake sale

Cupcake sales will always go down as a hit. Easy to organise and fun to take part in, your local community will love the idea of baking for a charitable cause. All you need is to find a venue, to set up tables and to ask people to get baking! Kids love this too as not only will they be able to raise money, but indulge in some sweet treats too.

Plan a sports day

A great way to incorporate fitness into fundraising is through a sports day. An event in which families within the local area can compete, it can be promoted via social media and on leaflets/posters.

In order to raise money, you’ll have to charge a registration fee for teams or individuals to participate. Make sure that you have medals or prizes available for the winners too!

Set a Realistic Goal

Once you’ve decided on how you’ll raise money, you need to create a realistic target goal. This will depend on how many people you’re expecting to attend the event/how much you think you will sell if you were doing a car boot sale, for example. It will also depend on how much you’ve spent on the event (if any). It needs to be achievable and set within a timeframe that you know that you can hit.

Donate!

Once you’ve held your event, then it’s time to donate! Many charities will allow you to do this online, making it very easy and quick to do. The moment that you hit that donate button, you’ll know that you and your family have done a wonderful thing – whilst creating memories that will last forever.
