I recently received my first ever sports massage and what an experience that was!
My friend Hayley works at Taylored Fit Physio so I thought this would be an excellent opportunity for me to try a sports massage. Taylored Fit Physio operates out of a beautiful converted old chapel in Langley Park. Just look at these pictures!
Taylored Fit Physio specialise in physiotherapy, acupuncture and craniosacral therapy. They also offer aerial yoga (children and adults), hatha and vinyasa yoga and physio, podiatry, chiropody, sports massage therapy, traditional chinese medicine acupuncture, reiki, yoga and physio led pilates.
I had a good look around and was very impressed!
The treatment rooms were very cosy and were decorated beautifully. I especially loved the little lights in the ceiling!
As you can see from the photo above, I was ready to go and looking forward to my massage!
Once Hayley started, I suddenly realised I wasn’t here for a nice relaxing massage, haha! For those of you who have had a proper sports massage before, you will know how this post is going to go and how it will end.
I had been passenger in a car accident when I was 16, I didn’t realise it at the time but it’s still left me with occasional neck and shoulder pain on one side. I had told Hayley all of this prior to us starting and she also knew I did quite a bit of weight training.
I’m not going to lie (because I never do on this blog) the pain and discomfort I was in was incredible, haha! Amy was with me taking these super pictures for the blog and she couldn’t help herself from giggling. Hayley managed to remain professional through my grumbling though!
Sports massages are great for a number of reasons, including…
- Increased flexibility
- Increased joint range of motion
- Decreased muscle tension
- Decreased muscle spasms
- Better sleep
After my sports massage at Taylored Fit Physio, I instantly felt looser. The next day, I had a little bit of stiffness but nothing major. What followed for the next few days was interesting though. I felt I could push the barbell that little bit extra.
I saw Hayley a few days later and I told her to stay away from me with those hands. Of course, I’m joking! She’s a miracle worker. I can’t wait to return. I just need my bloody eczema to calm down a little bit, I’m so self-conscious about it.
I highly recommend Taylored Fit Physio and thanks again to Hayley, Vicky and the rest of the team.
Thanks for reading,
