Bupa – Advent Calendar

Post Type

I recently did a post on the fantastic range of free apps available on the Bupa website. Today I’d like to talk to you about how Bupa would like to keep you fit and healthy over the festive period. They’ve released an online advent calendar containing 25 days’ worth of free advice!

You should all know by now that I’m running 60 miles for charity over the 12 Days of Christmas. This is ultimately how I intend to keep fit and healthy. I’ll be letting my hair down on Christmas parties though and not really worrying too much about my nutrition. For you guys, I’d highly recommend you checking out the Bupa Advent Calendar, if you can’t run with me that is!

They have 25 free tips for a happy, healthy December. I can remember reading Sunday the 2nd of December’s and it was all about having a Merry Christmas but not too Merry. It’s basically a gentle reminder of what alcohol units you have to play with, 2-3 units for women and 3-4 units for men a day. It’s not a lot so if you go over, try and stay alcohol free some days. If you can’t, why not just exercise? There’s snow reason not to stay active over Christmas!

The 10th of December was an interesting free tip. Did you know you can burn up to 300 calories an hour by brisk walking? I don’t shop myself but if you are still out Christmas shopping, why not pound that pavement and lose calories at the same time. Sounds like a good idea to me!

I hope you found this post interesting and please check out the calendar from Bupa. I recently tweeted that if you aren’t learning something new every day then you’re doing something wrong. Pop over to Bupa now and learn something new. If it’s not new to you, it may be the gentle reminder you need to have a happy, healthier December.
