Exercise and Kids

Post Type

I’d like to get the ball rolling on a subject that’s now very important to me, exercise and children. I’ve just become a Daddy for the second time and I’m very focused on making sure that both Adam and Emma grow up to be healthy and happy. Part of the reason I started to train regularly again in 2010 was to set an example to my kids. I don’t want to be the unfit Daddy who couldn’t kick or throw a ball at the park.

I think if you’re reading this and your a parent, you’ll all agree we all want our kids to be healthy and happy. Unfortunately we’re in a world right now that is made easier by the use of cars, convenience foods and dreaded computer games. I don’t think it’s a surprise for you to hear that a growing number of kids today are at risk of becoming overweight. The problem here is that unless they exercise or eat healthily now, the changes of them remaining overweight as adult is very high. Being overweight as a child can put them at serious risk of developing some medical conditions later in life. Things like diabetes, heart disease and not to mention the stress they’re putting on their bones. Don’t forget, their bones are still growing.

This is all I want to say in the short article but this is the start of my ‘Exercise and Kids‘ section of the website. Look out for more great articles coming soon, including ideas to make sure your child gets their 5-a-Day!

Stay fit, healthy and please set an example to your children.

  1. A great idea to add this section to your site. I’m a new Mother myself so I’ll be looking forward to more articles. All the best, especially your 12 Days of Christmas. Steph x
