Total Warrior 2012

Post Type

I’ve always wanted to do something challenging and have often thought about doing the Great North Run or the Coast to Coast. These are both fantastic events but as I’m not a good long distance runner or cyclist I knocked that idea on the head!

I came across Total Warrior thanks to my cousin’s husband, Nick. He had better sponsor me now! It’s a 10k run throwing in 25 obstacles including human BBQ, the shocker and total wipeout. It sounds absolutely fantastic and I’m already training very hard for it. If you’d like more information about Total Warrior please view their website here. I’m expecting to be pushed all the way and I accept the challenge…

Taking part in the event will be Deano, Peter, Martin and Myself. We’re doing this event on behalf of my company Hill Valley Creative and we’re raising money for Team Fox. Team Fox is The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s (MJFF) grassroots community fundraising program. It is made up of thousands of people worldwide who raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease research. All funds raised through Team Fox go directly to MJFF to further its mission to accelerate the delivery of life-changing treatments, and ultimately a cure, to people with Parkinson’s disease. Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease, a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States alone, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. If you’d like more information about the charity, please click here.

Deano is very passionate about raising money for this charity as his Mam has Parkinson’s. I also have a close family friend who is suffering from Parkinson’s too so your donations really mean a great deal to us.

Please help us speed a cure for Parkinson’s!

Thanks,

Paul

About The Author

Following the birth of his son in 2009, Paul was unfit and sluggish. Since then he's been training using a range of exercise techniques and gained some valuable information over the years. Events he has completed to date are Total Warrior, Pier To Pier, Bamburgh 10k, Hamsterley 10k, Blaydon Races, Newcastle Stampede and over 50 parkruns. In 2012 he created his own challenge called the '12 Days of Christmas.' He raised over £1000 for Percy Hedley by running 60 miles to celebrate their 60 years. In 2013 he ran the '12 parkruns of Christmas' with friend Lee Nyland. The pair raised over £1400 for the Tiny Lives Fund.
